Western part of country receives rain, snowfall

KATHMANDU:- The western part of the country has received rain and snowfall since Friday evening due to the westerly low pressure weather system.   

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather remained cloudy until Saturday afternoon from Friday evening.

The rain has stopped from the Saturday afternoon.

Information Officer of the Department, Dinkar Kayastha, said the weather pattern that caused rain has weakened. However, sporadic rainfall could take place until Sunday in the high hilly and Himalayan belts.

In the last 24 hours, Jajarkot recorded the highest amount rainfall (29 mm) and 28.8 mm in Dadeldhura. This is the medium range of rainfall.

Likewise, Darchula received 17.8 mm rainfall, 26 mm in Baitadi, 20 mm in Doti, 16.2 mm in Bajhang and 9.4 mm in Kanchanpur.

The Department shared that Achham district recorded 12.6 mm of rainfall, 19.4 mm in Kalikot, 14.3 mm in Dailekh, 12.7 mm in Jumla, 12 mm in Mugu and 13.5 mm in Dolpa district.

The districts of Baglung, Myagdi, Rukum Purba, Ropla, Surkhet, Gulmi and others too received light rain and snowfall.

Due to the impacts of the low-pressure weather system, the districts in Koshi, Madhes and Bagmati provinces are cloudy and the same weather system could continue tonight as well.(RSS)
