Muslim Civic Coalition-Activate Endorses Bushra Amiwala for Congress in IL-9

ILLINOIS:- Muslim Civic Coalition-Activate, a prolific political organization that supports strong Muslim candidates for public office, has endorsed Bushra Amiwala for the U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois’ 9th Congressional district.

The organization only endorses candidates who have demonstrated an ability to compete with strong fundraising numbers, a stacked roster of volunteers and a dynamic campaign operation. The Coalition then evaluates which candidates will fight for representation and just laws that improve the quality of life for their constituents.

“I couldn’t be more proud to accept this endorsement from the Muslim Civic Coalition-Activate,” elected Skokie school board member Bushra Amiwala said. “This organization has long played an integral role in helping the best and brightest candidates in Illinois win office. I look forward to working alongside them to engage voters and build momentum over the next twelve months.”

Amiwala earned an endorsement alongside Rep. Delia Ramirez (IL-3), Junaid Ahmed and Illinois State Representative Nabeela Syed. All will be up for election in 2026.

“Our vision is an equitable and representative America with civic justice for all. We’re in the business of supporting trusted leadership for Illinois. That’s exactly what Bushra Amiwala will bring us in Congress,” the Coalition said in a statement. “We encourage you to check out Bushra’s campaign website for volunteer opportunities and continue looking out for ways to help her to victory.”

The Coalition urges its members and supporters to vote for Amiwala in the upcoming democratic primary. The election date is set for March 17, 2026, with early voting opening a few weeks beforehand.
