Manju Rawat and Dal Bahadur Kunwar win Annapurna Marathon title

KASKI:-  Runners from Jumla have dominated the sixth edition of the Annapurna Marathon-2083, which was held from Annapurna Base Camp to Ghandruk.

In the women’s category, Manju Rawat of Jumla won the title by completing the distance in 6 hours 14 minutes 19 seconds. Rajya Lakshmi Rawal of Jumla came second and Kalpana Budha came third.

In the men’s category, Dal Bahadur Kunwar from Jumla won the first place by covering the distance in 4 hours 4 minutes 11 seconds. Tilak Bahadur Sunuwar of the Nepali Army came second and local runner Sachin Gurung came third.

51 runners, including 6 foreigners, participated in the competition organized with the main slogan ‘Tourism for All Seasons’. The winners received medals and certificates along with cash prizes of Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 75,000 respectively.

The objective of the marathon, organized on the occasion of Annapurna Climbing Day, is to promote tourism in the Annapurna region and develop sports tourism, according to the organizer, Annapurna Century Tourism Committee, Ghandruk.
