Nepal secures position in Super Six defeating Japan

KATHMANDU:- Nepal has advanced to the Super Six as the group winner by defeating Japan in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifiers being held in Oman.

Played at the Al Amerat cricket ground in Oman today, Nepal thrashed Japan by five wickets in the final match of Group ‘B’. Nepal gathered four points with two consecutive victories in the tournament.

As the runner-up of the group, Japan managed two points and also secured its position in the Super Six.

In the match today, Nepal met the target of 132 runs with the loss of five wickets in 18 overs. For Nepal, Asif Sheikh contributed the highest 38 runs, while Gulsan Jha made 28 runs and Kushal Bhurtel made 21 runs.

Batting first, Japan made 131 runs with the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
