Landslide at Api Himal; risk of Chaulani River being blocked

BAITADI:- A landslide has occurred in the Bhattar area of Apihimal Rural Municipality-2, Darchula. Chief District Officer Bartaraj Paudel stated that the flow of the Chaulani River has been affected by the landslide.

CDO Paudel added that settlements along the riverbanks are being alerted to remain vigilant due to the disruption in the river’s flow.

“Official details regarding the damage in the landslide-affected area have not yet been received; the police have already headed to the site,” said Chief District Officer Paudel.

The District Administration Office, Darchula, issued a public notice on Friday urging caution, as a landslide descending into the Chaulani River has buried a portion of the riverbed and the ongoing landslide activity raises the possibility of the river becoming dammed.
