Indian-origin cancer researcher Manoj Mishra appointed to CDCC core committee

MARYLAND:- Dr. Manoj Mishra, an Indian-origin founding director of the Cancer Research Center at Alabama State University, has been appointed to serve on the Career Development Core Committee of the American Association of Immunologists. His two-year term with the national organization officially began on July 1 of this year.

With this appointment, Dr. Mishra will play a leading role in national initiatives designed to expand career development, training opportunities, and professional resources for immunologists within the organization.

This appointment highlights ASU’s growing presence in biomedical research and higher education. The committee supports programs of the American Association of Immunologists that foster professional growth and advance scientific research globally.

Mishra asserts that his appointment will positively impact the university’s research priorities and academic objectives, while also enhancing the campus’s reputation.

At ASU, Mishra leads initiatives focused on tumor immunology, prostate cancer research, and cancer health disparities. Under his leadership as the Director of the ‘Cancer Research Center,’ the institution has expanded research opportunities and mentoring programs for undergraduate and graduate students.

Mishra completed his undergraduate studies in Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry at DAV College in Siwan, India; subsequently, he obtained a Master’s degree in Zoology and a Doctorate in Reproductive Physiology from Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.

After completing his studies in India, he moved to the United States to undertake postdoctoral fellowships at Kansas State University, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Before joining the faculty at Alabama State University in 2009, Mishra worked as a research scientist in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
