ICC Women’s T20 Challenge: Nepal loses to Vanuatu

KATHMANDU:- Nepal was defeated to Vanuatu in the today’s match held under the ICC Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy at Gahanga Cricket Oval in Kigali Rwanda.

Vanuatu secured a 22-run victory. Chasing a 98-run target posted by Vanuatu, Nepal was restricted to 76 in 15.3 overs at the loss of all wickets.

For Nepal, Samjhana Khadka was the top scorer with 24 runs including four fours off 19 balls. Likewise, Captain Indu Barma contributed 13 followed by 10 from Kabita Kunwar. The rest of the players failed to reach double figures.

In bowling, Vanessa Vira and Nasimana Navaika each took three wickets.

Prior to this, Vanuatu opted to bat first by winning the toss and made 97 runs in 20 overs at the loss of five wickets.

Vanuatu’s Valenta Langiatu was the top scorer for the team who contributed 50 runs including two fours and two sixes off 50 balls. Nasimana made 18 and Selina Solman and Susan Stephen each made 10 runs.

For Nepal, Riya Sharma took two wickets conceding 11 runs while Manisha Upadhyay, Kabita Kunwar and Rachana Kumari Chaudhari took one wicket each.

Nepal is set to face America on coming April 26.
