Heavy Rain Likely in Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim as Monsoon Remains Active

KATHMANDU:- The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces as active monsoon winds continue to influence weather conditions across Nepal.

According to the Department, most parts of the country are experiencing generally cloudy weather due to the ongoing monsoon. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has already been recorded in several areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, along with parts of the hilly region of Lumbini.

The weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy across the Himalayan and hilly regions throughout the day, while the Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces are also likely to witness cloudy conditions. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecast for many places in these regions, as well as in parts of the Terai of Koshi, Madhes, and Bagmati provinces.

The Department has warned of heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in some hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpashchim. Rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, are also possible in some high Himalayan regions.

For tonight, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are expected to remain mostly cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience partly to generally cloudy weather. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in several places, with the possibility of heavy rain in a few locations.

The Department has urged the public, particularly those living in the hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpashchim Province, to remain alert and take necessary precautions against possible impacts of heavy rainfall, including flooding and landslides.
