Government declares 45 people who died during Gen Z protests as martyrs

KATHMANDU:- The government has decided to declare 45 people who died during the Gen Z protests as martyrs.

Communications Minister and Government Spokesperson Jagdish Kharel said today’s Cabinet meeting decided to declare 45 citizens who died in various parts of the country, including Kathmandu, as martyrs.

Communications Minister Kharel also said that the decision to declare 45 people as martyrs was made based on a study conducted by a committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs, other security agencies, and the District Administration Office.

Similarly, Minister for Communications Kharel informed that today’s cabinet meeting has decided to deposit the required amount of Rs 53 million in the Disaster Management Fund to provide assistance to the affected local levels of Ilam, which has been declared a disaster-prone district.
