Floods and landslides block two highways in Karnali

SURKHET:- As incidents of floods and landslides increase across various parts of the country due to incessant rainfall, two major highways in Karnali Province have been completely blocked.

According to Nepal Police Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abinarayan Kafle, a landslide triggered by rainfall on Asar 17 at Rijegard Khola in Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rukum West, has obstructed the Bheri Corridor, which connects Jajarkot and Dolpa.

Similarly, police have reported that the Ghorahi-Rukum Sahid Marg has been completely blocked due to a landslide that occurred today, Asar 20, in the Kholawang area of Paribartan Rural Municipality-1, Rolpa.

Noting that various major highways across the country are being affected by incessant rainfall, Spokesperson Kafle stated that efforts to clear the obstructed roads are being intensified.

Nepal Police has urged the public not to travel on highways that are completely blocked until traffic resumes, and to exercise extreme caution when traveling on roads that are only partially operational.

The police have also advised people to take necessary precautions during the rainy season and to check with the police or local administration regarding road conditions before setting out on a journey.
