Four dead, 27 injured in road accident

SANDHIKHARKA:- At least four persons have died, and 27 others were injured in a road accident that took place at Panini rural municipality in Arghakhanchi district today.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Maya Basnet, 78 and Bindu Kunwar, 78, of Pokhara metropolitan city in Kaski, Kaushula Regmi, 50, and Ramesh GC, 45, of Modi rural municipality in Parbat district, according to Chief of District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Diwas Bahadur GC.

Two people died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries at different hospitals. The accident took place when a bus (Dha 1 Kha 504) coming to Parbat from Supa Deurali in Arghakhanchi fell around 100 meters off the road. Ramesh GC is the bus driver.

Most of the passengers are from Modi rural municipality, said police. Similarly, of the injured, the condition of four is reported to be critical. All the injured are receiving treatment at Lumbini Medical College, Palpa, and Bhairahawa Medical College.

Further investigation into the incident is underway. A team under the command of DSP GC and locals carried out a rescue operation, said former Chairperson of Panini rural municipality, Achyut Gautam.
