Five vehicles collide at Daunne, eight persons injured

NAWALPARASI:- Eight persons have been injured in a road accident occurred at Daunne of Nawalparasi Purba along the East-West Highway last night.

Five vehicles collided with each other at Ghiukhola of Binayi Triveni rural municipality-2. A container with an Indian number plate tried to overtake other vehicles on a one-way route, resulting into the collision, according to Superintendent of Police in the district, Yubraj Khadka. The Indian container was heading to the east from Sunauli.

Those injured in the incident were motorcyclist Amar Karki, 30, and pillion rider Mahendra Mahatara, 25, from Kalikot district.

Similarly, six others injured in the incident were the passengers of a bus. The police added that those receiving injury were Binod Kumar Achhami from Ramechhap district, bus driver Shankar Bista, Udiram Bista and Darshan Pokharel from Rolpa, Chandra Singh Thapa from Sunsari, and Yagya Prasad Bhusal from Pythan.

They have been taken to Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital at Danda for the treatment. The container driver has fled the scene. Efforts are underway to resume the roadway blocked after the incident, the police added.  (RSS)
