Film Bill 2082 approved by the House of Representatives

KATHMANDU:- Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives has unanimously approved the Film Bill 2082, which originated in the National Assembly.

Responding to the issues raised during the discussion on the Film Bill 2082, which originated in the National Assembly, Minister for Information and Communications Dr. Bikram Timilsina said that the bill can be made strong and timely and moved forward after sufficient discussion.

He said that the current government has not included any issues in the Film Bill, which was introduced by the previous government and originated in the National Assembly, and that attention has been drawn to the issues raised during the discussion on the Bill.

During the principled discussion on the Bill, the lawmakers stressed that the Bill should focus on resolving the problems faced by the film sector and artists.

He said that the lawmakers should focus on inclusive film production, the Film Inquiry Commission should be made effective, and laws should be made to respect the contribution of artists.

In the meeting, Speaker Aryal informed that lawmakers who wish to amend the bill can go to the Bills Branch of the Federal Parliament Secretariat and submit amendments.
