Family overjoyed as Sanjay Sah beats death
“Hope was almost gone. Then suddenly, the news that Sanjay had been rescued alive came from his brother-in-law, Dev Sah,” said family member Sudha Sah. “When we heard the news, everyone in the house cried, but those were tears of happiness.”
RAJBIRAJ:- Until 9:29 am on Friday, hope was fading at the home of the Sah family in Kushaha, Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-4.
Family members were gripped by anxiety and uncertainty. Then, at exactly 9:30 am, a sudden message arrived: “Sanjay has been rescued alive.”
The atmosphere at the house changed instantly. The silence that had prevailed moments earlier turned into an outpouring of tears. But these were not tears of sorrow, they were tears of joy.
Family members were overwhelmed by the news that their loved one, who had been missing for nine days, had been found alive. Thirty-one-year-old engineer Sanjay Sah of Kushaha who had been out of contact following the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26, was rescued alive from a tunnel of the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project by a team of the Nepali Army on Friday.
Sanjay is the elder of two sons. When the news of his rescue reached the family, his mother, Kapur Devi Sah, father Ramphal Sah and younger brother Sanjeev Sah could hardly contain their emotions without seeing Sanjay themselves. They immediately left for Kathmandu. After a long wait, the news felt like a second chance at life for the family.

After losing contact with her husband, Sanjay’s wife, Laxmi Kumari Sah, had been staying at her maternal home in Kataiya, Rupani Rural Municipality-3. The news that her husband had been rescued alive brought her indescribable joy.
Sanjay had been working as an engineer at the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project under the Nepal Electricity Authority for the past three years. According to his family, he has a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. The family had been deeply worried for days because they had no idea about his condition.
Sanjay had spoken to his family at around 7 am on August 26. He then lost contact after the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River. Since then, every day had been a day of painful waiting for the family.
