DHS raid Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s home
WASHINGTON:- Federal officials raided the Washington, D.C. home of Minnesota Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar on Monday morning. This action is part of an investigation into alleged criminal fraud involving immigration documents filed by her father.
It has been confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations raided the home of House Representative Ilhan Omar.
Somalia-born Omar, who was brought to the United States during her childhood, has frequently been a target of criticism by President Donald Trump. She became a U.S. citizen in 2000 at the age of 17.
The raid was conducted by the ‘Homeland Security Investigations’ division under the Department of Homeland Security.
A statement issued by the U.S. Department of Justice regarding the raid reads, “Today, in the Washington, D.C. area, ‘Homeland Security Investigations’ executed a search warrant authorized by the court and obtained by the Department of Justice.”
“This action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the statement noted.
The raid took place less than a month before the midterm elections scheduled for November. The 44-year-old Omar is preparing to run for another term as the representative for Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District.
