Congress General Convention: Vote counting underway at 23 locations

KATHMANDU:- To ensure the vote-counting process for various Central Working Committee positions under the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention is completed swiftly and systematically, votes are being counted simultaneously at 23 locations within the party’s central office in Sanepa.

Following the conclusion of vote counting for key office-bearers—including the President—the Election Committee has accelerated the counting process for the positions of Joint General Secretary and Central Committee members representing various inclusive clusters.

Raju Katuwal, Member Secretary of the Election Committee, stated that because ballot papers for numerous positions and candidates had to be managed simultaneously, the committee proceeded with the counting by organizing separate groups based on the specific positions and clusters.

Accordingly, vote counting for the positions of Open Joint General Secretary, Female Joint General Secretary, and Open Female Central Member is underway at five locations, while teams have been mobilized at the highest number of locations—nine—to accelerate the vote counting for the Nepali Public Relations Committees based abroad.

Similarly, the counting of votes for the positions of Indigenous Nationalities Joint General Secretary, Open Indigenous Nationalities Central Member, and Indigenous Nationalities Female Member is taking place at three locations.

Vote counting is underway at four locations for the positions of open central member, female central member, and youth central member (under 35 years of age) representing Sudurpaschim Province. Counting is taking place at two locations for the positions of Joint General Secretary (representing backward regions), open central member, and open female central member.

With vote counting proceeding simultaneously at a total of 23 locations, the process of announcing results has gained momentum. The Central Election Committee stated that the counting is continuing peacefully—amidst tight security and in the presence of candidates and their official representatives—and preparations are underway to announce the final results for all remaining positions soon.

According to Member Secretary Katuwal, the counting process has been accelerated with the aim of announcing the final results by Wednesday.
