‘Contours of Two’ opens at Music Art Gallery

KATHMANDU:-  A new joint art exhibition titled ‘Contours of Two’ has opened at Music Art Gallery in Sanepa, Lalitpur.

The exhibition brings together artists Kapilmani Dixit and Roshan Bhandari and runs from February 21 to March 20.

The exhibition marks more than ten years of artistic journeys for both artists. Although their styles are different, their works come together through shared themes of memory, emotion and personal experience.

Kapilmani Dixit’s paintings are bold and confident. He is known for his strong lines and deep colours. Earlier in his career, he carefully studied human anatomy and created realistic female figures. Over time, his style has become more refined and expressive. Dixit completed his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas in 2004. He returned to Nepal in 2008 and became recognised for presenting figurative and nude art in a society where such themes were often avoided.

Roshan Bhandari’s work, on the other hand, focuses more on mood and atmosphere. His paintings reveal childhood memories, cultural stories and quiet emotions. Art enthusiasts often need time to fully understand his layered compositions.

Bhandari studied at Banaras Hindu University under a scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. He later completed his Master’s degree in Fine Arts at Tribhuvan University, graduating as Faculty Topper. His art reinterprets Nepali folklore and oral traditions through abstract forms and has been shown in countries such as India, Italy, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

The exhibition ‘Contours of Two’ offers visitors a chance to experience two different yet connected artistic voices, making it a thoughtful and engaging exhibition for art lovers in the Valley.
