Live Duet singer Pashupati Sharma makes film debut

KATHMANDU:- Live Duet singer Pashupati Sharma is currently busy shooting for the Nepali film *Teen Tighre, Kya Bigre*. This film, produced under the banner of Raghuji Films, marks the acting debut of Sharma, a renowned figure in the Nepali folk-duet (Live Duet ) music scene. Although he has previously sung for films like *Prem Geet* and *Bracelet*, this will be his first experience performing as an actor.

Singer and actor Sharma stated that he decided to act in the film because it belongs to the comedy genre. “I do have experience acting in music videos for songs I’ve sung myself. Since I enjoy the comedy genre, I feel confident that I can handle this role. It will be a unique and new experience for me,” he said. The film is written and directed by Amardeep Sapkota and produced by Raghunath Sapkota.

Singer Sharma has achieved immense popularity with songs such as ‘Lutna Sake Lut’, ‘Chhata Harayo’, ‘Malai America Yahi’, ‘Syangja Jane Bataima Tanahun’, ‘Mero Maya Baseko Thaunma’, and ‘Campus Padhna Auni’. The song ‘Lutna Sake Lut’, in particular, garnered widespread attention for delivering a satirical message against corruption and disorder in Nepali society. Sharma also serves as the Central Senior Vice-President of the National Folk and Duet Song Academy Nepal.

Prakash Saput had previously entered the Nepali film industry as a folk singer. While gaining acclaim for his music, he made his acting debut in the film *Pardeshi 2*, directed by Narayan Rayamajhi. His very first film became a superhit. Subsequently, Saput worked in a succession of films, including *Soltini*, *Haribahadurko Jutta*, *Maitighar*, *Mirmire*, and *Paralko Aago*. He also produced and directed a film titled *Basanta*; however, *Basanta* performed very poorly at the domestic box office.

Folk singer Prakash Dutraj has also ventured into the film industry. He stars opposite actress Samragyee Rajya Laxmi Shah in the movie *Ahuti*. Dutraj describes the experience of working on his debut film as a mix of nervousness and enjoyment. The film is produced and directed by Bhavani Sangraula. Although filming has concluded, a release date has not yet been set. Dutraj is well-known for popular songs such as “Ghar Kata Ho Bainiko,” “Jam Bho Maili Sarara,” “Rimai,” “Chaina Ra Maya,” “Resham,” and “Man Bhulchha.”
