Committee formed to investigate issues of recommendation for study visa

KATHMANDU:- The Ministry of Education and Sports has formed a 3-member committee to investigate the alleged involvement of employees in the recommendation of study visas.

The committee has been formed under the coordination of the joint secretary at the Ministry, Chandra Kant Bhusal, and will carry out a probe into the involvement of employees in preparing letters and documents made for the study visas.

The members of the committee are Undersecretary (law) Gopi Krishna Regmi and Section Officer Gunaraj Bhattarai. The panel has been given seven days to submit the report. They would study the weaknesses at the employees’ level in document verification and the process.

The probe was forwarded after the study documents recommended in the name of Valmiki Vidyapeeth were found phoney.

The Ministry has already urged the subordinates to stop further process on the recommendation made to foreign citizens in terms of visa grant.

A study visa is linked to the credibility of the entire system, so further administrative and legal actions would be forwarded accordingly.

Earlier, the Ministry had written to the Home Ministry to advance the probe into the use of suspicious documents and fake bills. RSS
