Bada Dashain Tika and Jamara auspicious time public for Nepalis living abroad
KATHMANDU:- On the occasion of Vijaya Dashami—part of the Bada Dashain festival—the auspicious time (Shubha Saait) for receiving ‘Tika and Jamara’ in Nepal has been set for 10:26 AM. Outside of Nepal, however, the auspicious time for ‘Tika and Jamara’ falls on different dates and times across various countries, due to geographical distance and time zone differences.
Considering the convenience of Nepalis residing in various countries, the International Panchanga Determination Committee has announced the most auspicious times (Shubha Saaiṭ) for receiving ‘Tika’ during this year’s Bada Dashain for Nepal and 23 other nations. The determination of these auspicious times is primarily based on the local sunrise time and the ‘Dashami Tithi’ (the tenth lunar day).
Due to differences in time and dates across various locations, the specific day and time for the ‘Tika and Jamara’ ceremony vary from country to country. For instance, while the auspicious time (Shubha Saaiṭ) for ‘Tika and Jamara’ in Nepal falls on Kartik 4 (October 21), in some other nations—such as the United States—it falls on October 20.
In this way, the auspicious timings determined by the International ‘Panchanga’ (Almanac) Determination Committee have made it easier for Nepalis living abroad to celebrate *Vijaya Dashami* at the correct time, in accordance with their authentic culture and traditions.
