Water level rising at Triyuga Gaighat and Modi Beni Hydrometers

KATHMANDU:- The water level at Triyuga Gaighat Hydrometer in Udayapur has crossed the alert level and is rising, says the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, urging people to take precautions as the coastal areas and low-lying areas of the river are prone to flooding.

Similarly, the water level at Modi Beni Hydrometers on the Kaligandaki River in Parbat district is around the alert level and is rising too, leading to a risk of landslides in the coastal areas.

Meanwhile, the department has stated that monsoon winds are currently affecting the length and breadth of the country. As a result, the weather will be generally cloudy across the country this afternoon with a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in many places in all the provinces.

There is also a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in the Tarai region of Koshi, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Later tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at many places in the Tarai region of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces and at some places in the remaining hilly regions.
