First Dashain table tennis tournament concluded

KATHMANDU:- The inaugural Dashain Table Tennis Tournament, organized by Yala Sports Academy, has concluded. Competitions were held today, Saturday (Ashoj 24), at the academy’s newly constructed training hall in Gwarko, featuring four categories for men: 30+, 40+, 50+, and 60+.

Bilas Shrestha of APF emerged victorious in the 30+ category, defeating his teammate Rajiv Chikambanjar in the final. Meanwhile, Yogendra Maharjan (Kholcha Pokhari) and Salim Tamrakar (AVM) secured the third-place bronze medals.

Similarly, in the 40+ age category event held today, Bimal Raj Ghimire secured the gold medal by defeating Rajkumar Khadgi, while Rajkumar had to settle for the silver medal. Ashok Maharjan (AVM) and Dilon Shrestha (Kirtipur) finished in third place in the same category.

In the 50+ age category, Jay Ram Maharjan (AVM) emerged victorious, while Sangha Ratna Dangol finished second after losing to him. Subodh Jonchhe (Bhaktapur) and Madhyash Makai (Banepa) secured third place.

In the 60+ category, Prakash Dhakhwa of Kholcha Pokhari won the gold medal, while Rabindra Maharjan of Kirtipur had to settle for silver. Manohari Thapa and Sudarshan Prasad Gautam (AVM) succeeded in securing bronze medals.

The closing ceremony and prize distribution program were held under the chief guestship of Sikka Suwal Shrestha, a board member of the National Sports Council’s Executive Committee. Additionally, dignitaries such as Binod Maharjan (Chairperson of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 17), Shiva Sundar Gothe (Secretary of the Nepal National and International Players Association), and Sanjay Aryal were present as guests.
