Dhading; district headquarters’ water supply disrupted
Mayor Dhungana stated that immediate necessary actions would be taken, prioritizing the safety of citizens' lives and property and the restoration of drinking water services. He informed that initiatives would be undertaken to repair damaged pipelines, resume water supply, and protect settlements at risk through coordination with provincial and federal governments and collaboration with donor agencies.
DHADING:- Four families have been displaced by a landslide in the Bhulbhule area of Nilkantha Municipality-2, Dhading, following continuous rainfall. The local settlement is at high risk after the ground cracked and a landslide began to slide in the Pandhero Kholcha Danda area.
The landslide completely destroyed Dil Bahadur Gurung’s house, while the homes of Govinda Shrestha, Hira Bahadur Shrestha, and Amrit Gurung developed cracks, forcing these families to relocate to safer areas.
Locals have reported that approximately 200 ropanis of arable land have been affected by the landslide. Additionally, the water supply to Dhadingbesi has been completely halted after the landslide damaged the main drinking water pipeline.
Drinking water supply to the district headquarters area has been disrupted after a landslide washed away the main pipeline transporting water from the source in Neelkantha Municipality-2 to the main distribution tank. According to Shiva Adhikari, Chairperson of the Neelkantha Municipal Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene Board, the landslide swept away a section of the pipeline—approximately 1,300 meters long—that connects the source to the tank.
Approximately 2,500 households in the district headquarters have been directly affected by the disruption of the water supply service. A gabion structure with a capacity of about 600 cubic meters—constructed through a partnership between the provincial government and Neelkantha Municipality—was also swept away by the landslide. The provincial government had invested approximately NPR 6.5 million in the construction of that structure.
According to local resident Bharat Bahadur Gurung, additional settlements are at risk as landslides continue to descend from the upper reaches of Bhulbhule village and the Newar Kholcha area. Concerned that the landslides could spread further due to continuous rainfall, locals have demanded immediate measures for protection, relief, and safe relocation.

Following the inspection, elected representatives and representatives of stakeholder agencies have pledged to immediately initiate measures to restore the drinking water service, protect settlements at risk, and implement long-term landslide control solutions.
