Third ‘International Nepali Film Awards’ will be held in Nepal
KATHMANDU:- The third edition of the ‘International Nepali Film Award’ (INFA), traditionally held in the UK, is set to take place in Nepal this year. The organizing bodies, INFA Events UK and INFA Nepal, have announced that the award ceremony will be held in Kathmandu on the 30th of Shrawan.
At an event held today to announce the top five nominees for the awards, Award Director Manish Karki stated that certificates were presented to the artists and technicians selected as finalists across various categories from among the 40 films released between Baisakh 1 and the end of Chaitra, 2082 BS.
The organizers announced that the award’s jury comprises senior actor Harihar Sharma as the coordinator, along with actress Gauri Malla, director-actor Ramesh Budhathoki, and editor-lyricist Karun as members.
Jury coordinator Harihar Sharma stated that the decisions were made based on impartial evaluation. “In any award, winners may be happy while those who miss out might be dissatisfied. However, our committee has made its decisions in a prudent and unbiased manner, free from any prejudice,” he said.
Awards will be presented in a total of 32 categories at the ceremony. The organizers announced that veteran actor Madan Krishna Shrestha will be honored with the ‘Dirghasadhana Samman’ (Lifetime Achievement Award), which includes a cash prize of Rs 111,111.
Film personalities present at the event included veteran actor Nir Shah; actors Bhuwan KC, Pramod Agrahari, Jasita Gurung, Khusi Karki, and Usha Upreti; and directors Krisha Chaulagain, Purnendu Jha, and Sudipta Adhikari, among others.
