59 Days to HoR Polls: EC Appoints Chief Returning Officers, Returning Officers

KATHMANDU:- With 59 days remaining until the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, the Election Commission on Sunday appointed Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers in all districts. The HoR elections are scheduled for March 5.

According to the Election Commission, 77 district judges have been appointed as Chief Returning Officers in line with Clause 8 of the House of Representatives Act, 2074 BS. The Commission meeting also decided to appoint second-class officers from the judicial service as Returning Officers, following the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission.

The appointments will take effect from January 9. The Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers have been instructed to report to their respective election constituencies from January 16.

The Election Commission has further directed the officials to establish and operate their offices and carry out election-related programmes in the districts in preparation for the March 5 polls.
