Bodies of two Indian nationals missing in Manang recovered

KATHMANDU:- Bodies of two Indian nationals who had been missing since October 20 have been recovered.

The armed police force (APF) recovered the bodies of Jignes Kumar Lallubhai Patel, 52, and Priyansa Kumari Patel, 17, today afternoon from near Maleripa Monastery at Disyang Rural Municipality-5 in Manang District.

Understood to be father and daughter, they had left Gyalsen Hotel there informing the hotel staff that they would go for a visit to the Maleripa Monastery.

When they did not return to hotel, the hotel had informed the Nepal Mountain Rescue Training School, Manang, of the APF about the disappearance of the two Indian nationals and urged for rescue.

When the search operations by the personnel from the Training School did not succeed for long, a trained mountain rescue team under the command of DSP of the APF Hira Bahadur GC was deployed with necessary rescue equipment and today the team located the bodies buried under snow some 100 meters upward away from the Monastery. It seems they visited the monastery and went upward to see more views.

According to the DSP of the APF, Shailendra Thapa, works to bring down the bodies from the incident site are underway.
