RSP urges govt to ensure adequate housing for displaced individuals

KATHMANDU:-The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called on the Government to provide housing and health services for citizens displaced from encroached settlements by the end of April next year.

Following a meeting of the party’s secretariat in the capital today, spokesperson Manish Jha announced that until an authorised body is established and data on landless squatters is gathered, they have requested a halt to bulldozer operations aimed at demolishing houses or structures in areas not officially acquired.

He urged the government to relocate the encroached structures and settlements to safe and organised housing, in line with their electoral commitments.

Spokesperson Jha pointed out that the government had previously failed to adequately address this issue, and in accordance with their election manifesto, they have initiated efforts to organise the landless residents.

“We will implement measures to manage those currently without homes in a safe and dignified manner. We will ensure sustainable management through authorised entities. The authority is expected to accommodate at least 75 percent of the citizens by the end of next March,” spokesperson Jha said. RSS
