Xtape honors gold medalists Diya Tamang and Diksha
KATHMANDU:- Xtep Nepal honored sisters Diya Tamang and Diksha—gold medalists at the 10th South Asian Karate Championship held in Dhaka, Bangladesh—on Saturday.
In the presence of their family, Xtep Managing Director Ganesh Shrestha honored them by presenting certificates of appreciation and gift hampers at the Xtep showroom located at Ring Road.
In the competition held from July 15 to 19, Diya won gold in the Cadet Women’s Under-61kg category, while Diksha won gold in the Children’s Under-35kg category. Diya had previously won a silver medal at the ninth edition of the same competition held in Sri Lanka.
Similarly, at the Thailand Open Karate Championship held in Thailand, Diya won one bronze medal and Diksha won two. Diya also competed in an international karate tournament in Japan, where she secured a bronze medal.
Managing Director Shrestha expressed pride in honoring the medal winner on behalf of Xtep and extended best wishes for continued success in the future.
Expressing gratitude for the honor, Coach Shrestha urged Xtep to further expand its engagement with the sports sector.
Diya stated that she took up karate at a young age thanks to the active encouragement of her father, Dawa, and succeeded in winning medals after getting the opportunity to participate in various international competitions. Her father, Dawa—who has a background in karate—is currently an ultra/trail runner.
