World Cup qualifiers: Nepal’s historic victory against Qatar

KATHMANDU:- Nepal defeated Qatar by five runs in the second match against Qatar under the Super Six of the ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifier underway in Oman. 

In the match held Monday at Oman Cricket Academy Turf-1 in Al Amerat, Nepal registered its second consecutive victory in the Super Six, defeating Qatar by five runs.

The team Qatar managed just 142 runs in 19.5 overs against the target of 148 runs posted by Nepal.

For Nepal’s victory, Sandeep Lamichhane took five wickets of Qatar while Nandan Yadav and Dipendra Singh Airee took two and one wickets, respectively.

Earlier, Nepal thrashed United Arab Emirates by a single run in the first match of the Super Six held on Sunday.

Earlier, Nepal had secured its place in the Super Six as the winner of Group ‘B’. In the group stage, Nepal defeated Kuwait and Japan.

The Nepali team comprises captain Rohit Kumar Paudel along with Dipendra Singh Airee, Ashif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Sandeep Jora, Kushal Malla, Gulshan Kumar Jha, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Mohammad Adil Alam and Sandeep Lamichhane. (RSS)
