Women’s T20 World Cup: Nepal announces preliminary squad for global qualifier

KATHMANDU:- Nepal has announced a 26-member preliminary squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) made the announcement on Wednesday. The squad includes Indu Barma, Rajmati Airee, Sita Rana Magar, Samjhana Khadka, Kabita Joshi, Riya Sharma, Somu Bista, Rachana Chaudhary, Rubi Podar, Pooja Mahato, Kabita Kunwar, Rubina Chhetry, Sana Prabin, Alisha Yadav, Iswori Bista, Roma Thapa, Soni Pakhrin, Bindu Rawal, Laxmi Saud, Manisha Upadhyay, Simana KC, Anu Kadayat, Kajol Shrestha, Kiran Kunwar, Asmina Karmacharya and Mamata Chaudhary.

The team will begin closed-door training sessions at the Mulpani Cricket Ground from Friday. The final squad will be announced after the training camp.

A total of 10 countries will take part in the Global Qualifier to be held in Nepal from January 12 to February 1. Four teams will qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England in June 2026.

Group A includes Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, the United States and Zimbabwe, while Group B consists of Nepal, Bangladesh, Namibia, the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea.
