Weather Alert : Heat wave likely in Tarai belt

KATHMANDU:- The country is under the partial influence of the upper-level western low-pressure trough and local winds, which could cause cloudy weather and rain in different parts of the country today.

The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology stated that generally cloudy conditions are likely over Koshi Province and the hilly and Himalayan regions of the rest of the country, while partly cloudy conditions are likely over the Tarai region this afternoon.

There is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim Provinces, as well as in the remaining hilly and Himalayan regions, and at one or two places in Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.

Moderate heat wave conditions are likely at a few places in the Tarai regions of Madhesh and Lumbini provinces, while hot day conditions are likely at some places in the Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Sudurpashchim provinces, the weather service stated.

The Department stated in its weather bulletin that there will be generally cloudy conditions over Koshi Province and the Himalayan region of the country, while partly cloudy conditions are likely over the remaining areas tonight. There is a possibility of light rainfall at a few places in Koshi Province and at one or two places in all other provinces.
