We will keep party united by focusing on holding everyone together and fostering inclusivity: President Thapa

LALITPUR:- Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that he will keep the party united by focusing on accommodating and embracing individuals and figures from all levels and backgrounds.

Speaking at the commencement of the Central Committee meeting held today at the party’s central office in Sanepa, General Secretary Thapa noted that all internal disagreements and grievances have been addressed and affirmed that he would now lead the party forward in a united manner.

“All outstanding issues have been addressed; the Nepali Congress is a family, and we will move forward by bringing everyone together. We are committed to holding the general convention on the scheduled date and stand united; there is no reason why we cannot hold the convention together. Uniting the party is not just about reconciling leaders; it is also essential to bring back those who left the Congress out of frustration. We will inaugurate the general convention at Khula Manch on the 16th of Ashwin,” said President Thapa.

Chairman Thapa urged party leaders and cadres across the country to unite, noting that the party would approach the public after concluding its general convention. He asked them to view the outcome not in terms of who won or who abandoned their stance, but rather as a consensus reached in the party’s interest through mutual flexibility.

“It is natural to have differences of opinion; instead of turning them into personal disputes, solutions should be sought through dialogue and consensus. Furthermore, party unity should not be limited to unity among leaders alone; we must also reconnect with long-time supporters and voters who have drifted away from the party,” he said.

Chairman Thapa urged even the party’s former chairpersons and senior leaders to participate in the general convention process and convey a message of unity. He also requested leaders entrusted with responsibilities for ward, district, and other levels of conventions to participate actively, noting that if they are unable to do so, alternative arrangements might have to be made in accordance with the party statute.

President Thapa emphasized the need to form various committees for managing the general convention and to execute tasks systematically within a short timeframe. Continuous dialogues had been held across various stages to resolve long-standing differences and disputes regarding the general convention within the Nepali Congress. President Thapa noted that discussions among leaders and within the party continued even after the special general convention, and an atmosphere of consensus emerged based on the various proposals and suggestions put forward during that process.
