US Chargé d’Affaires to Nepal calls on Speaker Aryal
KATHMANDU:- Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America to Nepal, Megan Bouldin, paid a courtesy call on House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal on Friday.
During the meeting, the Speaker expressed his gratitude to the US solidarity and support that it provided to Nepal during the crisis caused by the floods in Bhotekoshi-Trishuli river systems on August 26.
Speaker Aryal informed that Nepal’s emergency agenda, titled ‘Urgent Parliamentary Action to Address Climate-Related Disasters and Strengthen Resilience in the Himalayan Region and Other Vulnerable Areas’ was endorsed by a more than two-thirds majority at the recent 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha, Tanzania.
The Speaker stressed the need to mitigate loss and damage in the areas affected by or at risk of disasters caused by climate change, to strengthen efforts for disaster preparedness and resilience and to enhance international and inter-parliamentary cooperation for addressing the challenges.
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on Nepal-US relations, bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
