UAE closes 230 social media accounts in crackdown on illegal recruitment

KATHMANDU:- The UAE has shut down 230 social media accounts in 2025 for illegally promoting domestic worker recruitment services, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced.

The accounts were found to be operating without proper licenses and were not affiliated with approved recruitment agencies. The action was taken in coordination with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).

The Ministry said the move is part of ongoing efforts to combat fraudulent recruitment practices and protect the rights of employers and families. Authorities have stepped up both field inspections and digital monitoring to ensure compliance with UAE labor laws.

Residents have been urged to deal only with licensed recruitment offices and to report suspicious advertisements or practices through the Ministry’s hotline at 600590000.
