Renowned IT experts Kavita Kalatur, Anil Sharma, and Manish Malhotra signed up with Virginia Tech Council

These experts are expected to work together to drive global innovation while cultivating a diverse, future-ready regional workforce.

VIRGINIA:- Renowned IT experts Kavita Kalatur, Anil Sharma, and Manish Malhotra have been appointed to the Virginia Tech Council board. 

Their appointments were announced during the organization’s 35th annual membership meeting held in Tysons, Virginia.

This marks the first time that three prominent Indian-American executives have been included in the NVTC board of directors for the term extending through 2029.

Kavita Kalatur, founder and president of NetImpact Strategies, is among the newly selected board members. She is expected to bring over two decades of experience in venture investment management, governance, and technology consulting to her new three-year term.

Before starting her own firm in 2009, she held leadership roles at Oracle’s Primavera division and Deloitte Consulting, where she directed large-scale technology implementation projects for federal agencies such as the U.S. Treasury and the Department of Health and Human Services.

NetImpact founding president Kavita Kalatur holds an MBA in Finance and Information Technology from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and has experience serving on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health.


Manish Malhotra, the founder and Executive Chairman of Unisant, also serves on the board alongside Kalatur. She has spent over 30 years leading digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and government technology initiatives.

Manish Malhotra is the founder of Unisant, and his company is recognized by the Washington Business Journal as one of the fastest-growing companies.

Before completing his MBA at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business, Malhotra earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Pune in India.

Similarly, Anil Sharma, who is of Indian origin, is the CEO of 22nd Century Technologies. He currently leads the company, which serves federal, state, and local government clients as well as Fortune 500 companies.
