Seven people safely rescued from Timai River flood in Jhapa

JHAPA:- Seven people trapped by a sudden flood in the Timai River at Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-6 in the district were safely rescued.

They had gone to the river on Sunday afternoon to avoid the increasing heat in the district, but became trapped in the middle of the river after the water level rose suddenly.

All seven were eventually freed from the river at around 5:20 pm by the joint rescue team from the Area Police Office, Budhabhare, Temporary Police Beat Mangalbare, and the Bhutanese Refuge Camp Security Base, Timai. The rescue was carried out within an hour of the incident.

Police have urged locals to remain cautious, warning that river flows can rise suddenly during the rainy season.  (RSS)
