Security chiefs recalled from Sunsari; probe panel formed
KATHMANDU:- The Ministry of Home Affairs has recalled Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sunsari district Basudev Ghimire and the district chiefs of the security bodies.
The Ministry’s decision comes in the wake of the untoward incident that happened at Kaptangunj in Dewangunj Rural Municipality in the district last night. The Ministry stated that the CDO of Sunsari was recalled and Ishwari Prasad Aryal, the CDO of Sankhuwasabha district, was sent as the CDO of Sunsari.
Likewise, Chief of Koshi Province Police Office, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Binod Ghimire, was also recalled to the Nepal Police Headquarters. DIG Shekhar Khanal has replaced Ghimire as the Chief of Koshi Province Police Office.
Likewise, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sunsari Keshav Thebe was sent to the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa and SP Pushparaj Malla from the airport was sent to Sunsari as the chief of district police.
Similarly, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Armed Police Force Nanda Kishore Mahato was recalled from the Kaptangunj station of the APF Nepal, and DSP of APF Nepal Madan Nath from the APF Nepal Headquarters was deployed there.
A person died in a clash that ensued between two groups at Kaptangunj in Devangunj Rural Municipality-3 in the district, leaving 24 people injured, including nine local people, 10 Nepal Police personnel and five APF Nepal personnel.
The Ministry has also formed a five-member probe committee under the Ministry’s Joint Secretary Bhupendra Thapa. The committee is given a weeklong period to probe the incident of Kaptangunj in Devangunj Rural Municipality-3 and submit the report.
