Rain likely across Himalayan, hilly and Terai regions, urges caution
KATHMANDU:- As the influence of monsoon winds persists across the country, rain is likely in most places on Friday as well. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon low-pressure trough is currently situated near its average position in the eastern region and slightly north of its average position in the western region.
Currently, the weather is generally cloudy in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in the hilly regions of Koshi, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. It is partly cloudy in Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Koshi and Lumbini provinces. Light rain is occurring in some areas of Bagmati and Karnali provinces, and at one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
According to the division, the weather across the country will remain generally cloudy this afternoon. There is a possibility of moderate rain in some places across the country’s mountainous and hilly regions, and snowfall in the high mountain areas. Moderate rain is also forecast for some locations in the Terai.
Similarly, generally cloudy conditions will prevail across the country at night. There is a possibility of moderate rain in some places within the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Department has also stated that rain or snowfall may occur in some locations within the mountainous regions. Additionally, there is a possibility of moderate rain in some parts of the Terai.
The Division has urged everyone to exercise caution, as rainfall could increase the risk of disasters such as debris flow, floods, landslides, and soil erosion. Since daily life, agriculture, healthcare services, tourism, mountaineering, as well as road and air transportation could be affected, the public is also requested to stay regularly updated with weather-related information issued by the Department and to take necessary precautions.
