Passports to Be Issued Within Two Working Days as New Booklets Arrive

KATHMANDU:- The Department of Passports has announced that it will now issue passports within two working days following the arrival of a fresh consignment of passport booklets.

According to the department, a total of 396,000 new passport booklets have been received to meet urgent demand. With the improved supply, passport printing and personalization are now being carried out at full capacity.

The department said applicants who submitted their requests by December 1 will receive their passports by December 30. Remaining applications will be processed and distributed in phases thereafter. Passports will be delivered to applicants who applied through district administration offices, area administration offices and Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.

Officials clarified that passport distribution is expected to run smoothly during the interim period, as booklet shortages have now been addressed. The government had earlier decided to procure 700,000 passport booklets to meet demand during this transition phase.
