Nine road sections blocked across the country due to incessant rain and floods
KATHMANDU:- Nine major road sections across the country have been obstructed due to incessant rainfall and floods.
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, road sections in districts including Kavrepalanchok, Sindhuli, Makwanpur, Ilam, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Rasuwa, Lalitpur, Taplejung, and Lamjung have been affected as of 5:00 PM today.
According to the Nepal Police, the operation of all types of vehicles has been prohibited from 6 PM to 4 AM on the Kavrepalanchok-Sindhuli section of the BP Highway due to the risk of potential flooding; however, vehicle movement is permitted between 4 AM and 6 PM.
Similarly, on the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur, the operation of all types of vehicles has been banned during nighttime hours—from 5 PM to 5 AM—due to rainfall.
According to the police, several road sections—including the Mechi Highway in Ilam, Arniko Highway in Sindhupalchok, Lamabagar–Ramechhap section in Dolakha, Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa, Kanti Lokpath in Lalitpur, Mechi Highway in Taplejung, and Besisahar–Manang section in Lamjung—have been completely blocked due to landslides, road washouts, and mud.
However, police reported that an alternative route has been brought into operation via the premises of the Khimti Rural Electricity Cooperative for the Lamasanghu–Ramechhap road section in Dolakha.
As road conditions frequently change due to the rain, the Nepal Police has urged the public to obtain information about the latest road status from the concerned authorities before traveling.
