Nepali Congress extends active membership renewal deadline

KATHMANDU:- The Nepali Congress Membership Management Central Committee has extended the deadline for updating active memberships conducted for the party’s upcoming 15th General Convention. A meeting held at the party’s central office, Sanepa, chaired by party General Secretary and Coordinator Pradeep Poudel, decided to extend the deadline for distribution of new memberships to mountainous and remote districts, public relations committees, and new memberships.

The meeting informed that membership is being updated through the digital system in most parts of the country and that details of 687,931 out of a total of 782,209 active members have been entered so far. Of these, 538,622 have received NCIDs, while the remaining forms are in the process of being updated at the ward level.

The committee has directed that the forms entered online be approved by the ward level by 2083 Ashadh 5, (19 June, 2026). The statement issued by the party’s acting chief secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal states that if the ward does not approve it within the stipulated time, the center will automatically approve it.

If new and old members have entered without paying the prescribed fee as per the statute, the presidents of the concerned levels have been instructed to pay the fee as soon as possible. Members who do not pay the prescribed fee will not be allowed to participate in the process of the 15th General Convention.

The Congress has decided that members who have been exempted from renewal from the ward for various reasons and old members but whose details have been entered in the new one will also be given the continuation of their names in the digital system if they apply with proof to the central office by Asadh 20, (4th July, 2026).

The Nepali Congress has decided to launch a ‘Youth-focused campaign’ to distribute active membership to youth under the age of 35 as per the provisions of the party statute. In addition, it has been decided to update the membership of subject matter experts and old members currently abroad by Asadh 20, (4th July, 2026).

If there is any error in the details entered in the digital system, it can be corrected from Asadh 1 to mid-Asadh along with proof of citizenship or voter ID card.
