Nepali Congress abides by its mandate: President Thapa

KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said the NC would move ahead by being a responsible, strong and constructive opposition for the next five years in line with the mandate it got from the people.

“During an event organized by the Nepal Trade Union Congress under the theme ‘Democracy, Trade Union and Human Rights: Constitutional Rights of Workers’ to observe the 137th Labour Day on Friday, President Thapa reiterated its actions and initiations as per people’s verdict.” He reminded that the NC would abide by the parliamentary framework and democratic principles and values in course of dispensing from an opposition party.

On the occasion, president of the National Council of Nepal Trade Union Congress, Yogendra Kunwar, highlighted the necessity for the government to heed workers’ demands.

At the same event, leaders advocating for labours’ rights saw the need of collaboration among the government, private sector and labour organizations to safeguard labour rights, promote social justice and foster inclusive economic growth. Labour rights, social security, minimum wage, safe working conditions and the significance of trade unions featured in the programme.
