Nepali American entrepreneurs launches $23 million hotel chain in North Carolina
NORTH CAROLINA:- A group of Nepali entrepreneurs has launched the renowned American hotel chain “La Quinta Inn & Hawthorn Extended Stay” in North Carolina, USA. The hotel was officially inaugurated during a special ceremony held on September 24 in the city of Mebane, North Carolina.
Constructed with an investment of $23 million (approximately over NPR 3 billion), this 103-room hotel will operate two brands from a single building.
At the inauguration ceremony organized by the Alamance Chamber, Non-Resident Nepali entrepreneurs Sumit Sanjel, Sudhir Marahatta, and Radhesh Pandit jointly cut the ribbon to launch the hotel.

Addressing the ceremony, partner Radhesh Pandit stated that it took eight years to reach the inauguration stage, a process spanning land acquisition, permitting, and construction. This is the eighth hotel owned and operated by their investor group. Another investor, Sumit Sanjel, shared that they have been receiving an enthusiastic response from guests since the hotel’s opening.
Local officials—including Alamance Chamber President Reagan C. Gural, Alamance County Board of Commissioners Chair Kelly Allen, and Mebane Mayor Ed Hooks—welcomed and praised the new investment during the event.
Recently, the Nepali population and investment in North Carolina have been growing rapidly, driven by favorable weather, quality education, and employment opportunities.
