Bushra Amiwala Files Nominating Petitions to Run for Congress

CHICAGO:- Bushra Amiwala, candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 9th district, filed nominating petitions with the Illinois State Board of Elections on Monday morning to appear on the ballot.

Illinois candidates running for office at every level lined up before dawn outside the Illinois State Board of Elections office in Springfield. The petitions they filed represented thousands of volunteer hours spent collecting signatures and engaging voters.

“It’s official. Thousands of my neighbors in this district took the time to put me on the ballot, and I couldn’t be more proud of our effort to get there,” said Amiwala. “I am so grateful for every person who signed, collected, notarized and contributed to the petition process. This was 100% volunteer-led work powered by our community.”

With under five months to go until the primary, Amiwala’s congressional campaign is picking up steam. Voters willing to volunteer or contribute can visit the campaign website. To register to vote in Illinois, use the Illinois Online Voter Application.
