‘Nepal is a priority partner under our ‘Neighborhood First’

NEW DELHI:- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is eager to cooperate with the new government of Nepal. During a meeting with Rastriya Swatantra Party, (RSP) President Ravi Lamichhane in the Indian capital New Delhi on Wednesday, he said that Nepal is a priority partner country for India.

Informing about the meeting through social media, Prime Minister Modi said, “Nepal is a priority partner under our ‘Neighborhood First’ policy and we look forward to collaborating with the new government to take the special and multifaceted relationship between the two countries to further heights.”

Indian Prime Minister Modi has also expressed his great pleasure to meet with President Lamichhane. He welcomed the desire of the RSP President Lamichhane to work together for a common and prosperous future and stated that he fully agreed with it.

“It is a great pleasure to meet the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, (RSP), Mr. Rabi Lamichhane. I welcome and fully agree with his desire to work together for a common and prosperous future,” Modi wrote in Nepali language on Twitter (X) after the meeting. “Nepal is a priority partner under our Neighborhood First Policy and we look forward to working with the new government to take the special and multifaceted relationship between the two countries to greater heights.”

The high-level meeting held in New Delhi was attended by Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Mishri and other high-ranking officials from the Indian side.

The Nepali delegation, including Rastriya Swatantra Party, (RSP) President Lamichhane, his wife Nikita Poudel, Joint General Secretary Bipin Acharya, Secretariat member Deepak Bohara, and Personal Secretary Pradeep Acharya, were present during the meeting with Modi. Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to India Surendra Thapa was also present during the talks.
