Landslides, floods disrupt highways in seven districts

KATHMANDU:- Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides and floods that have disrupted major highways and road sections across seven districts, with several routes completely blocked and nighttime traffic restrictions imposed.

According to Nepal Police, vehicular movement has been suspended on several roads due to the risk of landslides and flooding.

Traffic remains prohibited on the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am and on the Kanti Highway in Makawanpur from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am until further notice.

The Mechi Highway in Ilam has been blocked by muddy road conditions, while landslides have obstructed sections of the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk and the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung.

The Lamabagar–Ramechhap road in Dolakha has been blocked after the Tamakoshi River encroached on the road, while a landslide has also obstructed the Nagma–Gamgadhi road section in Mugu.
