Khetri Samaj UK hands over Rs 2.382 million for Bhote Koshi flood victims

LONDON:- The Chhetri Samaj UK and the Chhetri Welfare Foundation UK have handed over NPR 2,382,618 to the Government of Nepal; this amount was raised for the relief and rehabilitation of those affected by the devastating floods and landslides that struck Nepal on August 26.

Representatives of the organization formally handed over the amount to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle at a program held at Singhadurbar on Sunday. The funds have been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Captain Tek GC, President of the Chhetri Samaj UK, stated that a large-scale fundraising campaign has been launched in the UK with the aim of providing immediate relief and assisting in the long-term rehabilitation of families severely affected by floods and landslides in various parts of the country, including the Bhote Koshi region of Rasuwa.

Baikuntha Kunwar, Advocate Roshni KC, and law student Edmond Singh Basnet participated on behalf of the Chhetri Samaj UK in the fund handover program, which was held with the coordination and support of MP Som Sharma.

The organization stated that the funds were raised through the voluntary contributions of the UK-based Nepali community, members and well-wishers of the Chhetri Samaj UK, and various donors.

While accepting the funds, Finance Minister Dr. Wagle expressed his gratitude to the Chhetri Samaj UK, the Chhetri Welfare Foundation UK, and all the donors for mobilizing significant financial aid from the UK to assist families affected by natural disasters.

Chhetri Samaj UK has expressed its gratitude to MP Som Sharma, printmaker Anu Yogi, volunteers, and all the donors who played a vital role in making the fundraising campaign a success.

A statement issued by the organization’s President, Captain Tek GC, reads, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors who stood with Chhetri Samaj UK and provided support during this difficult time of crisis in Nepal.”

Khetri Samaj UK has long played an active role in uniting the Nepali community in the UK to extend support and express solidarity with the motherland during times of natural disasters and crises in Nepal.
