ICC Women’s Challenge Trophy: Nepal defeats Rwanda by 38 runs

KATHMANDU:- Nepal has defeated Rwanda by 38 runs in the match held today under the ICC Women’s Challenge Trophy cricket tournament underway in Rwanda.

Chasing a target of 104 runs set by Nepal, Rwanda was bundled out for 65 runs after losing all its wickets in 17.4 overs. Except for Mary Bimenyimana, who scored the highest score of 19 runs for Rwanda, no other player could reach double figures. Nepal’s Manisha Upadhyay took four wickets while Kavita Kunwar, Rachana Chaudhary and Riya Sharma took two wickets each.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal scored 103 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Captain Indu Verma top-scored with 33 runs, while Kavita Kunwar scored 24 and Rubina Chhetri scored 11 runs.

For Rwanda, Henriette Isimwe took three wickets, Mary Bimenyimana took two, and Belise Murikatete and Rosin Herrera took one wicket each. Nepal had previously defeated Rwanda by two wickets.

Similarly, Nepal lost to the United States in two matches. Nepal had won against Italy but lost to Vanuatu. So far, Nepal has collected six points from six matches and now has to play against Italy and Vanuatu.

The team that finishes top in the tournament, which is based on a double round-robin league, will win the title.
