HoR election be held as scheduled: Prachanda

KATHMANDU:- Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has appealed to all to get together to make the election successful in the stipulated date of March 5.

Any steps to options other than the election as stipulated will be dangerous. Therefore I appeal to all to get unified for making election a success in time, said former Prime Minister Prachanda while addressing a Unity Message Assembly.

The election to the House of Representatives (HoR) should be held as announced on March 5, 2026, in a fair and peaceful environment. No one should try to disrupt it, he said.

Leader Prachanda warned against deferral or postponement of the election.

“We have been assisting the government and will do so for holding the election successfully in time as scheduled. However, there are also rumours that the government wants to postpone it for some months. I urge the government not to defer the poll. If the HoR poll is deferred, we will take to the street for the rebellion,” said the former PM.

Prachanda also dismissed rumour that the SC will reinstate the dissolved parliament as the cases are pending there. “Since people are readying for the poll and the political parties have all participated in the process, it is not easy to reinstate the House that was dissolved on the strength of the people’s movement.”
