High Court bans screening of movie ‘Lalibazar’

KATHMANDU:-  The Patan High Court has issued a short-term interim order to stop the screening of the film ‘Lalibazar’ for the time being. A single bench of Justice Prakash Dhungana on Tuesday issued a short-term interim order in the name of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and other agencies to stop the screening. The court has ordered to stop the screening of the film until May 5.

Roshni Nepali had filed a writ petition on behalf of the Badi community, objecting to some of the words in the film. The court issued a short-term interim order after the hearing on the writ petition filed on April 27. A joint bench will hold a double hearing between the writ petitioner and the opposing body on May 5. After that, it will be decided whether the short-term interim order issued today will continue or not.
